Malinga Announces Retirement From ODI Cricket:
Colombo: Sri Lankan fast bowler Listha Malinga has announced his one-day retirement from world cricket.

Malinga announced that he will play his last match against Bangladesh on July 26 and will take retirement from ODIs after that, Sri Lankan team captain Karuna Ratne confirmed his retirement.

The Sri Lankan team captain said that Malanga's retirement was a big problem for us as he was not only an important bowler but also a good performer. He said that at present we do not have a quality bowler who can prove to be the turning point of the match or he will be a highlight on the opposing team.

"We have been looking for bowlers who have been able to take wickets with the new ball in the opening over, but no specific success has been achieved in this regard," he said.
The Sri Lankan team captain said, "We will give the new bowler a chance and test his abilities in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh because, after 26 matches, Malinga will not be available to the team."

Liston Malinga will play the first match of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh and then say goodbye to the cricketing world, Kronartney said.

The Sri Lankan cricket board has announced that Malanga will not be available for ODIs after Friday 26 July, but will continue to play in the T20 format.

A brief look at Malanga's career

Malinga debuted the ODI and Test format since 2004, playing 225 one-day internationals and Sri Lanka taking the maximum 335 wickets.
